The Philosophy Behind JAECOO’s Striking Designs & Why Mzansi Motorists Love It

Posted on 16 Jan 2025 under Uncategorized

South African auto enthusiasts are becoming more intrigued by JAECOO vehicles by the day, and it’s easy to understand why. Underpinned by a dapper design philosophy, JAECOO vehicles seamlessly blend urban sophistication with rugged off-road capability.

Whether you’re navigating the bustling streets of Jozi, cruising along the scenic Garden Route, or venturing into the rugged trails of the Drakensberg, JAECOO vehicles are designed to meet diverse driving needs. So, let’s explore the unique design approach that makes JAECOO a compelling choice for SA drivers, shall we?

The ‘Off-Road Trendy’ Concept

At the core of JAECOO’s design philosophy is the ‘Off-Road Trendy’ concept. This innovative approach balances the adventurous spirit of traditional off-roaders with the modern elegance required for urban settings. For South African commuters tackling uneven roads or weekend adventurers heading to the Kruger National Park, the JAECOO 6 is an ideal companion. Its robust body structure and sleek, angular lines make it equally suitable for dirt tracks and city highways.

This concept is about versatility, allowing South African drivers to confidently navigate pothole-ridden streets, gravel roads, or mountain trails. It’s a vehicle built for the everyday adventurer who values both functionality and style.

Aesthetic Innovation With ‘One Box Style’

JAECOO’s ‘One Box Style’ design redefines classic SUV silhouettes, combining strong geometric shapes with smooth, flowing lines. For South African families looking for a vehicle that balances aesthetics with practicality, this design ensures both eye-catching appeal and everyday usability.

But it’s not all about looks. For instance, the JAECOO 6’s aerodynamic exterior improves fuel efficiency (a big plus for long commutes between cities like Pretoria and Johannesburg) while its rugged elements, like high ground clearance, handle rough terrains with ease.

With features like prominent wheel arches and a bold front grille, JAECOO vehicles are perfect for parents on the school run who want to stand out while enjoying a comfortable, reliable ride.

Seamless Integration Of Advanced Technology

JAECOO vehicles are designed with cutting-edge technology that enhances the driving experience. The Advanced Driver Recognition and Interaction System (ARDIS) anticipates driver needs, making it an excellent choice for tech-savvy South Africans. For example, worker bees navigating Cape Town’s congested streets will appreciate features that prioritise safety and convenience.

Torque-vectoring technology, available in select models, optimises traction and stability—ideal for drivers who frequent destinations like the muddy tracks of Mpumalanga or the sandy trails near the Wild Coast. JAECOO’s integration of technology doesn’t just improve performance; it makes the vehicles smarter and more intuitive for everyday use.

Designed For Ultimate Comfort And Functionality

Comfort is another cornerstone of JAECOO’s design philosophy. The interiors are crafted with discerning drivers and passengers in mind, offering a premium experience that suits long-distance travel and daily errands alike. Adjustable seating, spacious cabins, and intuitive layouts make these vehicles ideal for busy parents, adventurers, and professionals.

Imagine a family trip from Durban to the Drakensberg in a JAECOO 7—ample storage space accommodates everything from luggage to picnic baskets, while high-quality materials and smart storage solutions ensure everyone travels in comfort. For city dwellers, these same features make grocery runs and school pickups a breeze.

A Vision Of Innovation

JAECOO is redefining the automotive industry with its innovative approach to urban off-road vehicles. Their mission is clear: to create vehicles that combine bold aesthetics, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional performance tailored to modern lifestyles. For Mzansi motorists, this means cars that can tackle a variety of terrains while looking effortlessly stylish.

The brand’s research and development teams work tirelessly to refine every element of their designs, ensuring that each model exceeds the expectations of today’s drivers. Whether you’re a weekend explorer or a daily commuter, JAECOO offers a driving experience that’s both functional and exciting.

It’s not just a hybrid; it’s a technological revolution on four wheels. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this SUV such a game-changer for South African drivers.

A New Era Of Hybrid Technology

Hybrid vehicles have come a long way from their early days. While pure electric vehicles (EVs) promise zero emissions, they still pose challenges, particularly for South Africans who face inconsistent charging infrastructure. Enter the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), a clever solution that offers the best of both worlds: the convenience of petrol and the eco-friendly benefits of electricity.

The JAECOO J7 PHEV showcases JAECOO’s 20 years of hybrid expertise through its Super Hybrid System, a carefully engineered blend of innovation and practicality.

The Magic Under The Bonnet

At the heart of the Super Hybrid System lies an impressive combination of components, each playing a pivotal role in delivering its exceptional performance:

  • A high-efficiency 1.5TGDI engine that ensures optimal fuel usage.
  • A hybrid-specific transmission for seamless power delivery.
  • A cutting-edge battery and advanced management system to keep energy flowing efficiently and safely.

This combination offers more than just a smooth ride – it’s a leap towards sustainable motoring. With its extended electric range and best-in-class thermal efficiency, the J7 PHEV isn’t just an SUV; it’s a piece of engineering genius.

Designed For South African Lifestyles

South Africans love vehicles that can handle the unpredictable nature of our roads while offering flexibility for various driving needs. Whether it’s the school run, a quick stop at the local mall, or a long trip to the bushveld, the JAECOO J7 PHEV has you covered.

  • Pure electric range: Over 100km, perfect for daily city commutes without using a drop of petrol.
  • Total range: Over 1,300km, ideal for those cross-country adventures.
  • Fuel consumption: Just 4.7L per 100km, making it both economical and eco-friendly.

Imagine driving from Johannesburg to Cape Town on a single tank and charge. The J7 PHEV makes it possible.

Efficiency Meets Performance

The J7 PHEV isn’t just about saving fuel; it’s built to thrill. With a combined power output of 255kW and 525Nm of torque, this hybrid SUV offers instant acceleration that’s as exhilarating as it is practical. Need to overtake on the N1? No problem. Want to enjoy a smooth ride through scenic mountain passes? Done.

Driving The Future

JAECOO’s Super Hybrid System doesn’t just redefine how we think about hybrids; it sparks the imagination about the future of mobility. Picture this: a vehicle that helps you reduce your carbon footprint without compromising on performance or convenience. That’s the promise of the J7 PHEV.

Its ability to seamlessly switch between petrol and electric modes ensures you’re always prepared for the journey ahead, whether you’re navigating urban traffic or exploring uncharted territory.

OMODA and JAECOO: What’s coming for 2025

Posted on 26 Nov 2024 under Uncategorized

Brand O&J—the Chery Group division comprising the OMODA and JAECOO marques—entered the South African market in 2023 with the launch of the OMODA C5. Since then, the lineup has grown with the addition of the J7 and, more recently, the C9.

Local consumers have embraced OMODA and JAECOO’s competitively priced premium SUVs, with strong sales across the board. Looking ahead to 2025, both marques are gearing up to expand their respective ranges further, entering new segments and catering to an even broader audience.

“The upcoming OMODA and JAECOO additions in 2025 reflect our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of South African consumers. With the introduction of PHEV and EVs, alongside our traditional offerings, Brand O&J is expanding into new segments,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “There will be something for everyone—whether it’s electrified sustainability, luxury, performance.”

OMODA

C7

The strikingly styled C7, positioned between the C5 and C9, is set to arrive in 2025. It boasts bold styling and a generous specification list and features a distinctive X-shaped grille, which lends the front fascia an unmistakable presence. The frameless grille is complemented by slim headlights that flow with the sleek bodywork, creating a dynamic yet sophisticated appearance.

Measuring 4,621 mm in length, the C7 is compact enough for urban driving, but the generous 2,700 mm wheelbase provides ample room for occupants and luggage. The interior exudes elegance, with premium materials, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, leather upholstery, and a 14-speaker sound system heightening the luxury experience.

C9 PHEV

OMODA introduced the C9 in October. It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, delivering 192 kW and 400 N.m of torque via an eight-speed automatic transmission. In 2025, the C9 lineup will expand with the introduction of the C9 PHEV, marking the brand’s foray into electrification in South Africa.

The C9 PHEV is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that receives electrical assistance from up to three motors. While local specifications are yet to be confirmed, the C9 plug-in hybrid will deliver an efficient and sustainable luxury SUV experience without compromising performance or refinement.

JAECOO

J5

Positioned below the popular J7, the all-new JAECOO J5 marks the brand’s first entry into the popular SUV segment. It borrows styling cues from its larger sibling, featuring prominent vertical grille slats and squared-off styling that perfectly balances upmarket and rugged styling elements.

Inside, the J5 stands out from the crowd with a 13.2-inch touchscreen and the largest panoramic glass roof in its class, elevating it above the competition. Other impressive features include an advanced air filtration system, smart climate control, and pet-friendly accessories, making it a versatile compact SUV.

J6

The all-electric J6 will also be available in South Africa next year. It will offer consumers a premium battery-powered crossover with light off-roading capability. As the first fully electric vehicle to wear the JAECOO badge, the J6 will attract adventure-minded enthusiasts with a passion for sustainability.

In other markets, the J6 has two powertrain options. The 2WD variant delivers up to 184 kW and 220 N.m of torque, while the 4WD version boosts outputs to 279 kW and 385 N.m, ensuring strong performance, regardless of the terrain.

J6 luxury features include electrically adjustable front seats, an available massage function for the front row, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen. Final specifications and pricing for South Africa will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

J7 PHEV

The JAECOO J7 has proven to be a popular option amongst South African consumers. Adding a plug-in hybrid will bolster appeal, offering buyers an efficient J7 that emits fewer emissions without sacrificing performance. With the introduction of the J7 PHEV and J6, JAECOO can provide consumers with traditional ICE, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric vehicles at a reasonable price.

In a recent 1,300 km endurance test conducted in China, the J7 PHEV averaged a fuel-use figure of 3.3L/100 km, considerably lower than the 5.99L/100 km rating. A 90 km all-electric range can be expected, but the test yielded results of 125.2 km. Of course, these figures are subject to change once the J7 PHEV reaches South Africa.

J8

Arriving in 2025, the J8 will occupy the top spot in the JAECOO lineup. This luxury SUV offers seating for up to seven passengers, wrapped in premium materials and equipped with all the features one would expect from a flagship model. In international markets, the J8 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine delivering 195 kW and 400 N.m of torque. A plug-in hybrid variant is also available overseas but has yet to be confirmed for South Africa.

We Explore The JAECOO J7 Glacier – Come Along For The Ride!

Posted on 13 Nov 2024 under Uncategorized

Ready to meet an SUV that’s shaking things up? The JAECOO J7 Glacier has arrived in Mzansi, and it’s packing some serious style, tech, and clever features that make it more than just another set of wheels. This isn’t your average SUV; it’s here to make a statement, from the city streets to the open road. As your friendly JAECOO dealer, we’re thrilled to tell you all about what makes this Glacier model such a standout in our market in particular.

Sleek Style With A European Twist

The JAECOO J7 Glacier was designed to turn heads, and it shows. Inspired by European elegance, this SUV combines smooth lines, a bold grille, and pixel-like LED daytime running lights to make sure it stands out. And don’t let its sleek look fool you — it’s got the size to make an impression at 4,500 mm in length and 1,865 mm wide. It’s a bit of a road warrior but with all the style of a premium SUV.

With details like the floating roofline and door handles that sit flush against the body, the Glacier has a clean, aerodynamic look. Even the back is kitted out with a full-width light bar that gives it that extra touch of sophistication. If you want a car that brings a little European flair right here to SA, this is the one to watch.

Tech-Savvy Interior With Space To Spare

Hop inside, and you’ll find that the Glacier is just as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside. JAECOO has nailed that high-tech, uncluttered look. The minimalist design keeps things simple, but don’t worry, it’s still packed with all the smart features you want. There’s a massive 14.8-inch infotainment screen handling everything from climate control to entertainment, and a crisp 10.25-inch digital dashboard for all your essential driving info.

But what’s really exciting about this SUV is the space. The leather seats are comfortable, with loads of room for passengers in the front and back. Whether it’s for the morning commute or a family road trip, you’ll have the space you need, plus a boot that fits 412 litres — and if you fold down the back seats, you can load up to 1,335 litres for those big weekend plans.

Features For A Connected Lifestyle

In the JAECOO J7 Glacier, staying connected is a breeze. The SUV is fully equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can sync your smartphone without fussing with cables. Navigation, calls, and your favourite playlists are all right there on the big screen, and a 50W wireless charging pad keeps your phone juiced up while you’re on the go.

With voice commands accessible from the steering wheel, you can control many of the car’s functions hands-free, which comes in handy when you’re stuck in traffic or need directions. And if you’re all about sound quality, you’ll love the 8-speaker Sony sound system — perfect for turning up the volume on your road trip anthems.

Powerful, Yet Fuel-Wise

Powering the Glacier is a 1.6-litre turbo engine that delivers 145 kW of power and 290 Nm of torque. And for those who like a smooth ride, it’s paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This setup gives you all the power you need for city driving, overtaking on the highway, and even those sneaky hills.

What’s really smart is the Eco mode, which adjusts the throttle response to help you save fuel. If you’re watching your petrol budget, you’ll appreciate the 7.0 L/100 km claim. During testing, we saw fuel consumption around 7.5 to 8.0 L/100 km, making it an efficient choice without skimping on performance.

Packed With Safety Features

Safety is a top priority in the JAECOO J7 Glacier. It’s earned a five-star ANCAP safety rating, packed with eight airbags and a host of safety systems. Features like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Detection help you avoid accidents, while the 360-degree camera is a game-changer for parking and navigating tight spaces.

One feature that’s worth mentioning is the Driver Monitoring System. It’s designed to keep an eye on your alertness, and if it detects that you’re getting drowsy or distracted, it’ll remind you to focus. While this might seem over-cautious to some, it’s part of what makes the JAECOO J7 Glacier one of the safest options on the market.

A Solid Investment With Great Value

For everything it offers, the JAECOO J7 Glacier comes in at a great price point. It’s stacked with standard features that other brands often make you pay extra for. And it comes with a five-year/150,000 km warranty, a ten-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty for the first owner, and a five-year/70,000 km service plan, showing that JAECOO is serious about quality and reliability.

Introducing the JAECOO J5: big on features and innovation – coming soon to South Africa

Posted on 23 Oct 2024 under Uncategorized

JAECOO is excited to announce the arrival of the all-new J5, which was revealed at the 2024 OMODA & JAECOO International User Summit in Wuhu, China, this October. With sophisticated luxury features and a sleek design, the J5 aims to set a new standard in the compact SUV class. The highly anticipated JAECOO model combines clever technology, practicality, and comfort, making it the ideal choice for motorists who value comfort and prestige but still have an active lifestyle.

Following the successful introduction of the J7, JAECOO will expand its local lineup with the compact J5 crossover, due in South Africa in 2025. Equipped with all the features and high-quality materials the JAECOO brand is known for, the J5 crossover slots beneath the J7 within the JAECOO lineup, offering consumers a new entry point into the premium marque.

Like the larger J7, the J5 features a bold, assertive design combining modern styling cues with rugged touches. The prominent JAECOO grille flows seamlessly into the slim headlights, lending the vehicle plenty of presence. The generous ground clearance and subtly pronounced wheel arches underscore the J5’s adventurous personality. At the rear, an upmarket lightbar incorporates the taillights and ‘JAECOO’ nameplate, while the refined rear bumper integrates neatly with the bodywork.

Under the tastefully styled bodywork, an independent suspension setup can be found. This contributes to the smooth and supple ride quality—something appreciated when driving in town and on the long road. Other welcomed features include a best-in-class 13.2-inch touchscreen with integrated entertainment applications and smart navigation. The J5 is available with a 1.45 m² panoramic sunroof, the biggest in its class.

“The JAECOO J5 is designed for those who crave flair and individuality. With its innovative features, elegant design, and thoughtfully crafted accessories, it stands out from the crowd and encourages you to explore the world on your terms,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand & Marketing Manager OMODA & JAECOO.

Prepared for any adventure, the J5 comes with an impressive towing capacity of 1,250 kg and a roof rack that can carry up to 75 kg. Other features include camping lights, factory-installed hooks in the cargo area, and a charging port that can accommodate all the necessary accessories one might take camping or on outdoor trips.

A standout feature of the J5 is its emphasis on “human-pet travel,” prioritising a healthy and comfortable experience for four-legged companions. The interior includes specially extended seats designed with pets in mind, enhancing their comfort and safety.

Furthermore, JAECOO’s engineers have developed an air conditioning system with a powerful filtration system. It can isolate pet hair, maintaining a fresh and clean air supply to the cabin. The intelligent climate control system adjusts to occupant needs in real time, altering the temperature onboard at a moment’s notice. Other features aimed at pet owners include specially crafted boarding steps for smaller pets and a pet-feeding system.

The impending arrival of the J5 highlights JAECOO’s commitment to the South African market. “Introducing a more compact and competitively priced model will appeal to more consumers looking to join the JAECOO family,” concludes Gahagan.

JAECOO will reveal additional J5 details related to performance and pricing closer to the on-sale date. Local specification for the J5 has yet to be finalised.

JAECOO SUV Sales Fast Gaining Momentum In SA

Posted on 21 Oct 2024 under Uncategorized

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the SUV market in South Africa, you’ve likely noticed the buzz around JAECOO, and for good reason! Despite being a newcomer, the Chinese brand has quickly found its footing, outperforming some long-established European and Japanese automakers in the country’s highly competitive new-vehicle market, where versatility, style, and performance are everything.

Just weeks after launching, the JAECOO brand surged into the top 30 best-selling vehicle brands in South Africa, an accomplishment other brands take years to achieve. Its flagship model, the JAECOO J7, has proven to be a standout vehicle thanks to its sophisticated blend of urban luxury and off-road capability. The rapid rise demonstrates the brand’s strategy of providing functional elegance and innovative user experiences, all at a competitive price.

A Strong Debut With The JAECOO J7

The JAECOO J7, an urban off-road SUV, was launched in mid-April 2024, and within its first two weeks, it had already captured 7.4% of the monthly sales for Chery Group, JAECOO’s parent company. This model helped elevate JAECOO to the 28th spot among South Africa’s best-selling vehicle brands. The J7 offers a premium driving experience and is packed with features that appeal to a wide variety of consumers at a starting price of R549,900.

Whether you are a city dweller or an adventurer seeking off-road escapades, the J7 has seven driving modes and an all-wheel-drive system to ensure a smooth ride. Its sleek design and high-end interior finishes provide a sense of luxury, while its robust build ensures durability in more rugged environments.

Expanding The Lineup: What’s Next For JAECOO?

Building on the success of the J7, JAECOO has ambitious plans to expand its offerings in South Africa. The company is set to introduce several new models, including the JAECOO J8 PHEV and the JAECOO J6, aimed at tapping into the rapidly growing market for electric and hybrid vehicles.

The introduction of the J8 PHEV, in particular, is highly anticipated. This model is expected to offer the same rugged performance and luxury features that the JAECOO brand has become known for, with the added benefits of reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency.

Strategic Collaboration With OMODA

JAECOO’s success in South Africa has been further strengthened by its strategic partnership with OMODA, another sub-brand of the Chery Group. This collaboration drove Chery Group to achieve record-breaking sales in April 2024, with 2,009 units sold in just one month. By September 2024, the combined efforts of JAECOO and OMODA, known as “Brand O&J,” secured 11th place in the South African passenger-vehicle market, reflecting the increasing demand for Chery’s diverse range of vehicles.

Powering Ahead With JAECOO

With an expanding lineup and a forward-thinking approach to hybrid and electric vehicles, JAECOO is positioning itself as a serious contender in the South African SUV market. It’s clear that the brand’s mix of style, performance, and affordability resonates with local drivers.

At Group1, we fully embrace this transformative era, offering an exceptional range of SUVs designed to meet the varied needs and aspirations of our valued customers. For more information about JAECOO’s latest models and offerings, please get in touch with your nearest Group1 JAECOO dealer.

OMODA and JAECOO soar to new heights on SA’s sales charts

Posted on 03 Oct 2024 under Uncategorized

The Chery Group division comprising the fast-growing OMODA and JAECOO marques – Brand O&J – soared to a new high on South Africa’s sales charts in September 2024, ranking inside the top 15 on the overall manufacturer standings for the very first time.

Based on figures reported to industry representative body naamsa, this latest placing of 15th position overall saw Brand O&J jump ahead of yet more long-established automakers from Europe and Japan, despite the fact that it’s still a relatively new entity in the country’s highly competitive new-vehicle market.

In addition, Brand O&J found itself on the very cusp of breaking into the top 10 of South Africa’s passenger-vehicle segment, having rocketed to an astonishing 11th place in this category in September.

While a substantial 28% of all registrations in South Africa’s passenger-vehicle segment last month came courtesy of sales to the rental industry, Brand O&J was one of the few automakers towards the top of the charts not dependent on this channel, with every single unit instead sold via its extensive dealership network.

“The success of our dealerships and the fact that we’ve not had to rely on other sales channels – be they the rental space, sales to government or industry corporate sales – proves just how strongly our OMODA and JAECOO products resonate with private buyers,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager for OMODA and JAECOO South Africa.

Last month, the stylish OMODA C5 accounted for approximately 65% of Brand O&J’s local registrations, while the increasingly popular JAECOO J7 represented the remaining 35% of the overall total. The sustained success of these two products bodes exceptionally well for Brand O&J considering it has several new models in the pipeline for the local market.

For instance, the highly anticipated OMODA C9 will soon be launching in South Africa, positioning itself as the marque’s flagship SUV and marking the beginning of Brand O&J’s exciting next chapter on their road to success.

Functioning as an independent division within the Chery Group, OMODA AND JAECOO standalone dealer network continues to grow at a rapid pace, currently numbering more than 40 dedicated locations situated in key areas around the country.

Posted on 06 Sep 2024 under Uncategorized

The automotive world is abuzz with anticipation, and for a good reason—JAECOO has just confirmed that their innovative new J6 model is coming to South Africa. This announcement isn’t just another blip on the radar; it marks a significant stride in the evolution of urban off-roading, especially as JAECOO, part of the fast-growing Chery Group, continues to push the boundaries of new-energy vehicles.

As a proud dealer of JAECOO vehicles, we couldn’t be more excited to share the thrilling details of the J6 and what it means for the future of motoring in South Africa.

But don’t let its rugged, old-school look fool you—this five-seater SUV is packed with cutting-edge technology and features. The spacious interior is versatile and thoughtfully designed, with numerous clever storage solutions that make the most of every inch of space.

From city streets to off-road trails, the J6 promises a driving experience that is both comfortable and exhilarating. It’s not just another crossover; it’s a vehicle that redefines what it means to be an urban off-roader. Tougher than the average crossover but more refined than a traditional off-road vehicle, the JAECOO J6 is designed for motorists who crave the best of both worlds.

Breaking New Ground With Electrification

What makes the J6 even more remarkable is its fully electric powertrain. As the first all-electric model to bear the JAECOO badge, the J6 is a pivotal addition to the brand’s lineup. This move towards electrification is part of a broader strategy by JAECOO and its parent company to expand their presence in the global new-energy vehicle market.

While the JAECOO J7, the brand’s first model launched in South Africa earlier this year, has already made waves in the market, the J6 is set to take things to the next level. The introduction of this electric SUV underscores JAECOO’s commitment to innovation and positions the brand as a leader in the urban off-roading space. It’s a bold step that reflects the company’s vision for the future—one where sustainability meets adventure.

The Road Ahead: JAECOO J6 In South Africa

The excitement doesn’t end there. The JAECOO J6 will make its debut at the upcoming Festival of Motoring in Gauteng, giving South African motoring enthusiasts their first chance to experience this game-changing SUV up close. The official launch of the J6 in South Africa is planned for 2025, and it’s expected to further cement JAECOO’s position in the market.

Since its introduction to South Africa in April 2024, the JAECOO brand has seen rapid growth. The J7, with its sleek design and impressive capabilities, quickly captured the attention of the market. By July, JAECOO had already climbed to the 26th spot on the list of automotive brands reporting new vehicle sales to NAAMSA. The arrival of the J6 is poised to build on this momentum, propelling the brand even higher.

The JAECOO J6 isn’t just another electric SUV; it’s a symbol of what’s to come. As JAECOO continues to innovate and expand, the future looks incredibly bright—not just for the brand but for South African drivers who are ready to embrace the next generation of urban off-roading.

OMODA & JAECOO the centre of attention at 2024 Festival of Motoring

Posted on 03 Sep 2024 under Uncategorized

Brand O&J – the Chery Group division comprising the OMODA and JAECOO marques – was the centre of attention at South Africa’s 2024 Festival of Motoring in Gauteng, reflecting its rapid rise up the local sales charts.

Held at the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 30 August to 1 September 2024, the largest industry-supported automotive show on the African continent provided the ideal setting to display the latest OMODA and JAECOO products.

For instance, the popular OMODA C5 was on hand to showcase its futuristic styling and cutting-edge technology, while the soon-to-launch OMODA C9 coupé-style flagship SUV likewise attracted plenty of attention thanks to its award-winning design and luxurious cabin.

In addition, the JAECOO J7 – a highly capable urban off-road SUV that, like the OMODA C5, is fast climbing the sales charts – continued to win the hearts of outdoor-loving South African motorists, while also turning heads with its modern yet classic design aesthetic.

Meanwhile, in an exciting preview of Brand O&J’s imminent expansion into the local new-energy vehicle space, the fully electric JAECOO J6 was introduced to South Africans, who were captivated by its retro-inspired exterior design, boxy proportions and surprisingly spacious interior.

Measuring 4 406 mm long, the new JAECOO J6 – which features a classic yet modern off-road look – is endowed with a generous 2 715 mm wheelbase that translates into a deceptively spacious interior. All-wheel-drive variants are equipped with a 70 kW electric motor up front and a 135 kW electric motor at the rear, resulting in a total system power output as high as 205 kW.

The 0-100 km/h sprint is thus seen off in a mere 6.5 seconds, while the single-charge range comes in at over 500 km, depending on the chosen battery configuration. Designed to handle various terrains with ease, the new model is equipped with as many as 9 driving modes. The J6 is scheduled to launch in SA in the opening quarter of 2025, kicking off Brand O&J’s new-energy journey, which will also include plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

“The fact that every single one of the vehicles we displayed at the Festival of Motoring drew huge interest from attendees speaks volumes for both the design and quality of our cars as well as the local market’s incredibly positive sentiment towards these fresh brands,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa.

“In short, Brand O&J has quickly become a force that simply cannot be ignored in South Africa’s highly competitive automotive market. And, of course there’s plenty more to come,” added Gahagan.

While the C9 and J6 – along with a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of the J7 – are next on the cards for South Africa, development of new OMODA and JAECOO models continues apace overseas. For instance, extreme high-temperature testing of the freshly revealed OMODA C7 was recently completed in China, while teaser images and official design sketches of the exciting new JAECOO J5 were revealed ahead of this all-new model’s upcoming unveiling.

Since Brand O&J’s global launch in 2023, the company has attracted as many as 300 000 sales worldwide (up until the end July 2024), expanding into more than 40 countries and opening in excess of 875 showrooms around the world. This is a clear illustration of OMODA and JAECOO’s vision of together growing into one of the strongest brands globally.

That vision includes Europe. In February 2024, Brand O&J became the first Chery Group division to officially enter the European market, holding a celebratory event in Madrid, Spain. Around two months later, the President of Spain joined the President of Chery International to witness the inauguration of Brand O&J’s first EU factory. This makes Brand O&J the first Chinese automaker to set up a production plant in Europe, further demonstrating its determination to continue building only the highest-quality products.

Meanwhile, in mid-October, OMODA and JAECOO will join hands with individuals from more than 40 countries around the world to hold the 2024 International User Ecological Co-creation Conference at the brand’s headquarters. This ground-breaking event will explore the future of ecological travel as part of the brand’s philosophy of “More Than Cars”.

Exciting new JAECOO J6 officially confirmed for South Africa

Posted on 27 Aug 2024 under Uncategorized

JAECOO is pleased to announce that the new fully electric J6 has been officially confirmed for the South African market.

Brand O&J – the fast-growing Chery Group division comprising the OMODA and JAECOO marques – is rapidly expanding into the global new-energy vehicle space. Equipped with a fully electric powertrain, the rugged new J6 is the next step in this forward-thinking strategy.

“The exciting new JAECOO J6 will be revealed to the South African public at the upcoming Festival of Motoring, giving local enthusiasts an early opportunity to get up close and personal with this characterful battery-electric compact SUV,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager OMODA & JAECOO.

Featuring a retro-inspired exterior design and boxy proportions, the five-seater JAECOO J6 is deceptively spacious inside, with the versatile cabin furthermore featuring a plethora of clever storage spaces. In terms of driving dynamics, the SUV is both comfortable in the city and highly capable off the beaten path.

The new J6 thus fits in perfectly with JAECOO’s already established position as an innovative urban off-road SUV brand. Like its siblings, it’s tougher than a typical crossover but more comfortable than a traditional off-roader, and will help to further a new urban off-roading trend started by the J7.

“Although we’re preparing to launch a plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) version of the J7 – which will push the brand into the local new-energy vehicle space – the upcoming J6 represents the next step for our growing line-up as it’s set to arrive as the first fully electric model to wear the JAECOO badge,” added Gahagan.

Having launched in South Africa as recently as April 2024, JAECOO’s first model, the J7, has taken the local market by storm. In July, local registrations of the sleekly styled urban off-road contender saw JAECOO climb to an impressive 26th position on the list of 54 automotive makes reporting new-vehicle sales figures to industry representative body naamsa. The upcoming arrivals of new models such as the J6 will help the brand grow even further.

More details of the new JAECOO J6 will be announced at the vehicle’s official local unveiling at the Festival of Motoring in Gauteng, with a South African market launch planned for 2025.

JAECOO is the proud official vehicle partner for EFC

Posted on 08 Aug 2024 under Uncategorized

JAECOO is pleased to announce its association with EFC as the official vehicle partner of Africa’s premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organisation.

As one of the fastest-growing entrants to South Africa’s new-vehicle market, JAECOO is a unique urban off-road SUV brand, with its debut model, the sleekly styled J7, offering outdoor-loving customers more toughness than a typical urban SUV yet more comfort and technology than traditional off-roaders.

“At JAECOO, we have a saying: ‘fearless salutes fearless’. This exciting new partnership with EFC is the embodiment of that maxim and lines up perfectly with our growing brand’s unwavering pursuit of adventure,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager OMODA & JAECOO.

Established in 2009 in South Africa, EFC provides athletes with a world-class platform to unleash their full potential and showcase their prowess on a global stage. The action-packed competition is filled with thrilling head-to-head battles and fosters lofty levels of excitement, mirroring JAECOO’s entry to the highly competitive local new-vehicle market earlier this year.

“We are proud to officially partner with JAECOO, a new and exciting vehicle brand that is set to take the world by storm. Like EFC, JAECOO is here to challenge the status quo, and take on the traditional ‘big players’ in the industry by offering the best possible product and quality,” said EFC President Cairo Howarth.

EFC events take place in South Africa, but bouts are broadcast to over 120 countries around the world. As the new official vehicle partner to the organisation, JAECOO has provided J7 vehicles to various EFC title-match competitors, allowing them – just like JAECOO brand ambassador Senzo Radebe and countless satisfied customers around the country – to arrive at show venues in comfort and style.

Since the MMA organisation’s inception, all EFC events have been overseen by dedicated doctors, who are assisted by an on-site emergency medical team, while every athlete undergoes various medical tests before their match. This pioneering approach, along with the adherence to an extensive list of international unified rules, reflects EFC’s commitment to making the sport safer, an outlook that is wholly in line with JAECOO’s stance on vehicle safety.

“The JAECOO J7 is constructed according to global 5-star safety standards and comes packed with standard safety features and driver-assistance technology. So, just like EFC and its athletes, we believe in both working hard and playing hard, but still keeping safety firmly in mind. This, then, is our ringside salute, from one fearless organisation to another,” concluded Gahagan.

Look out for JAECOO’s presence at the next EFC event on 8 August 2024.

Flanking the grille are pixel-like LED daytime running lights, with sporty air vent-styled headlights and fog lights positioned lower down.

The side profile is equally captivating, with glossy black A-, B-, C-, and D-pillars creating a floating roof design. The 19-inch alloy wheels found on the Glacier model, add a robust and dynamic stance, while the clean lines and aerodynamic door handles enhance its sleek appeal. At the rear, a single light bar stretches across the vehicle’s width, complemented by brake, indicator, and reverse lights in a distinctive pixel-block design.

Luxurious Interior And Cutting-edge Technology

Step inside the JAECOO J7, and you’ll immediately notice the meticulous attention to detail. The interior is both minimalist and sophisticated, with soft artificial leather-clad seats offering exceptional comfort. The spacious cabin provides ample head and shoulder room for both front and rear passengers, ensuring a comfortable ride for all. The boot space is impressive too, with a capacity of 412L that expands to 1,335L with the rear seats folded flat.

The J7’s technology suite is nothing short of impressive. The system is intuitive and user-friendly, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. Below the infotainment screen, a 50W wireless charging bay and USB ports ensure your devices stay powered up.

The eight-speaker Sony sound system delivers crisp audio, enhancing the overall driving experience. Safety features are top-notch, with the vehicle equipped with a 360-degree parking camera, Driver Monitoring System, and numerous advanced driver-assistance systems.

Powerful Performance And Efficient Powertrain

Under the hood, the JAECOO J7 is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 145 kW and 290 Nm of torque. This engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, provides smooth and responsive acceleration. Whether you’re navigating city streets or tackling steep inclines, the J7 delivers a constant surge of power, making overtaking and hill climbs effortless.

The J7 offers different driving modes, including Sport, Standard, and Eco, allowing you to tailor the driving experience to your preferences. JAECOO climbs SA’s sales charts after just over two weeks on the market

Posted on 24 Jun 2024 under Uncategorized

Newly established urban off-road SUV brand JAECOO rocketed into the top 30 of South Africa’s best-selling automotive brands in April 2024, despite having launched its very first model midway through the month.

Though the new J7 was officially on the market from only 13 April, initial sales were high enough to see JAECOO place a phenomenal 28th out of the 54 automotive brands currently offered in South Africa’s new-vehicle market.

JAECOO’s inspiring performance – along with that of sister brand OMODA, which has just celebrated its first year in South Africa – helped the Chery Group secure its highest-ever monthly sales total of 2,009 units, which in turn resulted in a record 6th place on the overall manufacturer standings for the month and 4th position in the passenger-vehicle segment.

“Even though the J7 has only just arrived on the local market, it’s clear South Africans are excited by what this new model – not to mention the JAECOO brand as a whole, with its ‘From Classic, Beyond Classic’ philosophy – has to offer. In the end, the J7 accounted for a strong 7.4% of Chery’s record total for the month,” said Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager Chery/OMODA & JAECOO South Africa.

While the three-strong J7 line-up – priced from just R549 900 and including a range-topping Inferno derivative equipped with all-wheel drive and as many as 7 driving modes – has given JAECOO a particularly robust start in South Africa, the local line-up is poised to welcome further models in the coming months.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the J7’s sales performance in what was a partial month for a new-to-market model. Though we’ve only just launched JAECOO in South Africa – with the country becoming both the first right-hand-drive market to offer this model as well as the first in Africa – we have big plans for this forward-thinking brand, including on the new-energy vehicle front,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager OMODA & JAECOO.

For instance, customers can expect to welcome the J8 PHEV, with the new J6 likewise in the planning for a local introduction. More details on these models will be released closer to their respective arrivals.

New JAECOO J7 officially launches in South Africa

Posted on 12 Apr 2024 under Uncategorized

The highly anticipated JAECOO J7 has officially launched in South Africa, hitting the market as the very first model from the newly established urban off-road SUV brand. Endowed with cutting-edge design and forward-thinking technologies, the J7 is poised to take the local market by storm, with the three-strong range priced from just R549 900.

Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager Chery / OMODA & JAECOO South Africa, says the new J7 perfectly embodies the brand’s “From Classic, Beyond Classic” philosophy and is as such the ideal model to introduce the innovative new marque to the country. In addition, South Africa is both the first right-hand-drive market to launch the J7 as well as the first in Africa.

“As South Africa’s first taste of JAECOO, the new J7 has an important role to play. Boasting high levels of sophistication and performance – not to mention a modern yet classic design aesthetic – the J7 will appeal to customers who love the great outdoors but are not prepared to compromise on either comfort or standard specification,” Liu said.

All three derivatives in the J7 range are powered by an efficient turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine producing generous peak outputs of 145 kW and 290 Nm, and mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as standard. In the case of the base Vortex and mid-spec Glacier variants, drive is delivered to the front axle, while the range-topping Inferno features all-wheel drive, incorporating the brand’s advanced new All Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS).

The inclusion of ARDIS in the Inferno derivative completely redefines the off-road driving experience, allowing effortless navigation through mud, sand and several other types of terrain. This means drivers – who furthermore benefit from a 21° approach angle, a 29° departure angle, 200 mm of ground clearance and 600 mm of wading depth – needn’t worry about encountering varied surfaces.

The proprietary ARDIS intelligent off-roading system includes as many as 7 driving modes, allowing the JAECOO J7 to adapt to a wide variety of surfaces by dynamically adjusting the vehicle’s responses in real time. So, whether navigating urban streets or muddy terrain, the system handles each driving scenario with finesse and capability.

Specification levels are extremely generous across the line-up. Belying its entry-level positioning, for example, the Vortex grade includes items such as power-adjustable front seats, an electric tailgate, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a 360° panoramic camera system, wireless smartphone charging, 18-inch alloy wheels (framing red brake callipers), LED headlamps, front foglamps, automatic windscreen wipers, 7 airbags (including a driver’s knee airbag), front radar and several added safety features.

Meanwhile, the mid-tier Glacier model (R599 900) upgrades to 19-inch alloys and a 14.8-inch touchscreen, while also gaining items such as innovative inter-seat airbags, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats (with a memory function), a head-up display, an integrated dashcam and a raft of extra driver-assistance features. The latter includes items such as automatic emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, lane-departure warning, intelligent high-beam control, rear cross-traffic assist and more.

Finally, the flagship all-wheel-drive Inferno (R679 900) ships with the aforementioned ARDIS system, along with extras such as a heating function for the leather-trimmed steering wheel as well as privacy glass.

Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa predicts that the J7 will spark a new urban off-roading trend among local buyers.

“The JAECOO J7 offers outdoor-loving customers something entirely new: far more toughness than a typical urban SUV but also more comfort and technology than traditional off-roaders. Add lofty levels of standard specification, a potent powertrain and highly competitive pricing, and you can see why we believe the J7 will take the local market by storm,” said Gahagan.

The J7 was launched in South Africa on 12 April 2024 at St John’s College in Johannesburg. After the day’s activities, invited guests – including brand ambassadors such as actor Senzo Radebe – attended an event hosted by MC Anele Mdoda. Thanks to an exclusive pre-launch drive of the J7, Anele was ideally positioned to play host, having been one of the very first people in South Africa to experience this exciting new vehicle from behind the wheel.

Later, JAECOO guests were treated to a music festival that included entertainment from DJ Mörda (aka Murdah Bongz), who had the crowd on its feet with his mesmerising dance moves and captivating stage presence.

Earlier, Khavhagali Vhalinavho from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) presented a talk on environmental protection. Liu explained that this topic is a key part of JAECOO’s broader sustainability vision.

“Right from the conception of the JAECOO brand, we knew we wanted to create a more environmentally friendly off-road experience than is typical, providing the urban elite with not only a more comfortable but also a greener travel adventure. The protection of the great outdoors is important to our customers, so it’s important to us. That’s why we’ve chosen to partner with IUCN,” concludes Liu.

The BOSCH IPB Intelligent Brake-by-Wire system furthermore gave guests the chance to experience the fastest response time in its class (under 0.1 seconds).

JAECOO’s National Brand and Marketing Manager, Shannon Gahagan implored guests to not overlook the J7’s market-leading safety protection system and intelligent cockpit. “This car can withstand nearly 8 tonnes of pressure without deformation, not only ensuring superior overall safety but also enhancing driving performance.”

Constructed according to global 5-star safety standards, the vehicle’s body comprises over 80% high-strength steel, with a torsional rigidity of 23 000 Nm/deg.

Guests were also able to interact with the J7’s generously specified intelligent cockpit, comprising a 14.8-inch sky screen, a 540° panoramic camera and a 2.4-inch head-up display.

Some of these locations are earmarked for flagship stores, which means that they will also include a range of additional services, such as scratch and dent repair and vehicle detailing,” says Liu.

“Any dealer or prospective investor is welcome to contact us to learn more about the brand and our future range of products.”

JAECOO will officially launch in April and the vehicle can already be seen by the public in Cape Town at the Table Bay Mall from the 26th of February until the 4th of March. This will be the first time that the JAECOO J7 will be displayed to the public.

The J7 was first shown at last year’s Shanghai Auto Show in China where it wowed visitors from around the world, including South Africa.

The vehicle is designed and built for customers who like the great outdoors, but do not want to compromise on comfort and specifications. This is perfectly encapsulated in the brand theme: “From Classic, Beyond Classic”.

The J7 is fitted with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 145 kW and 290 Nm of torque to all four wheels. Power is transferred to the AWD system through a modern 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with self-shifting capabilities. The 7DCT wet dual-clutch transmission, once honoured as one of the “Top Ten Transmissions Globally,” boasts a transmission efficiency of up to 98%, exceeding the average level of its class. With a shift response time of 0.2s, the J7 achieves smooth and seamless control across all speed ranges.

As has become the norm with the OMODA C5 and C5 GT, the JAECOO J7 offers a comprehensive range of luxuries and standard features. This includes adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a fully digital cockpit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a new intelligent camera array that not only shows the vehicle’s surroundings but uses artificial intelligence to remove the vehicle from the picture and show the ground beneath the vehicle – all based on an 8155 microchip.

The South African JAECOO roadshow is the next in a series of roadshows and customer experience events that have been held across the world.

In Malaysia, JAECOO hosted customers, dealers and investors at the famous M4TREC Off-Road circuit where customers, clients and investors could put the all-wheel drive JAECOO J7 and the flagship J8 through their paces.

The track was upgraded for this event to best showcase the JAECOO ARDIS (All Road Drive Intelligent System) which adapts its off-road, engine and safety systems to the specific road or off-road conditions.

Similar customer and investor events were held in Saudi Arabia and Mexico, with more planned in the near future.

On local soil, JAECOO South Africa will be hosting a few lucky customers and media for a first drive of the J7 in March and showcasing the capabilities of the vehicle on and off-road. Additionally, the public can experience the J7 in person through early test drives that will become available at JAECOO dealerships throughout the country.

“There is no doubt that South Africa is an important region for the Brand O&J Group if you consider the fact that we are hosting investors and clients at the same time as other major markets such as China, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.

“Our dealer partners can rest assured that they will receive the best service from our head office and that they will have a profitable and long-lasting relationship with JAECOO and OMODA,” says Liu.

Dealer network

There are currently 30 dealerships in the main metros, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Gqerberha, East London, Emalahleni, Polokwane, and Tshwane.

Flagship OMODA & JAECOO stores can be found in Johannesburg, including Omoda Bryanston, Omoda Sandton, Omoda Boskburg, Omoda Gordon Road, Omoda Roodepoort with two more flagships in Cape Town, and several more planned in the near future.

JAECOO, the newly established urban off-road SUV marque and second brand from OMODA&JAECOO, is launching its first model, the highly sophisticated J7 in South Africa in early 2024. Endowed with fearless, farseeing elegance and conceived for urban elites with exquisite taste and extraordinary style, JAECOO perfectly embodies the slogan “From Classic, Beyond Classic”.

Committed to crafting urban SUVs, JAECOO persistently centres its approach around the user. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and novel ecological experiences, the brand continually reshapes the relationship between people and vehicles. It brings innovative products and services to the modern urban elite, building on the foundation of the classic SUV’s reliable qualities. In particular, JAECOO relentlessly pursues breakthroughs, especially in terms of dynamic performance and technological innovation, transcending the classics and delivering a sense of the future and technology to a broader consumer base.

JAECOO made its global debut at Auto Shanghai 2023 in China as recently as April, when it was announced as an independent brand with a focus on urban off-road SUVs and a fitting brand slogan of “From Classic, Beyond Classic”.

“At JAECOO, we are tirelessly dedicated to making breakthroughs in the automotive space and the upcoming J7 will be South Africa’s first taste of the future of intelligent mobility when it arrives early next year,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA&JAECOO.

“Tougher than typical urban SUVs but more comfortable than traditional off-roaders, the J7 is poised to start a new urban off-roading trend among local buyers. Add a raft of remarkable safety features, forward-thinking technologies and chic design – all courtesy of master design teams assembled from countries such as the United Kingdom and Germany – and you’ll find the J7 is like no other,” explains Gahagan.

The JAECOO J7’s standard powertrain provides ample power and torque to conquer a variety of surfaces. Just as the refined J7’s on-road credentials speak for themselves, so too do the newcomer’s off-road capabilities. Endowed with JAECOO’s proprietary ARDIS intelligent off-roading system, the multi-talented SUV boasts as many as 7 drive modes, allowing it to adapt to a wide variety of terrains.

The J7’s distinctive exterior styling is a mix of classic aesthetics and cutting-edge design, including a matrix-style grille, slim LED headlights and elegant flush door handles. Thanks to the J7’s master design, the sleekly styled urban off-road SUV is equipped with a minimalistic yet luxurious interior, including a vast 24.6-inch screen.

“While our product rollout in South Africa will commence with the eagerly anticipated J7 early in 2024, there’s plenty more to come from the brand. Later next year, for instance, JAECOO will also launch the new, larger J8 – which was revealed in Qatar as recently as October – packed full of more segment-redefining features, from an ultra-smart curved infotainment screen to row-specific climate control,” said Gahagan

In the interim, South Africans can look forward to meeting the J7, which is poised to challenge local consumers’ traditional perceptions of off-roading. Furthermore, the J7 PHEV is set to be introduced in Q3 2024, before the flagship J8 arrives in Q4 2024. More details, including local specifications and pricing, will be released closer to the respective models’ launches in 2024.

JAECOO has officially announced their entry into South Africa, making it one of the very first countries in the world to welcome the newly established urban off-road SUV brand.

JAECOO made its global debut at Auto Shanghai 2023 in China as recently as April, when it was announced as an independent brand with a focus on urban off-road SUVs and a fitting brand slogan of “From Classic, Beyond Classic”.

JAECOO made its global debut at Auto Shanghai 2023 in China as recently as April, when it was announced as an independent brand with a focus on urban off-road SUVs and a fitting brand slogan of “From Classic, Beyond Classic”.

The brand’s no-compromises driving solution is called All Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS), which offers seven unique driving modes, each optimising the vehicle’s dynamics, power delivery and other aspects for specific driving scenarios. Each mode delivers a unique experience that brings out the best in the SUV for that chosen condition.

Technical advancements such as these were brought to life by JAECOO’s team of highly skilled specialists, such as chief engineer Peter John Matkin, who brought vast experience from his time at a leading British brand. It’s a similar case in the design department, where individuals such as chief designer Chris Rhoades applied extensive styling knowledge from years at top European manufacturers.

JAECOO will launch with the J7 in early 2024. Positioned as a mid-sized SUV, the J7 boasts as many as seven drive modes and comfortably seats five adults in a luxurious cabin that also features a 14.8-inch vertically positioned touchscreen.

The J7 and other upcoming JAECOO products will be sold through and supported by a dedicated network of OMODA&JAECOO dealerships, with 30 already established across South Africa.

“Earlier this year, South Africa was the first country on the African continent to offer the OMODA brand and our nation is now among the first in the world to welcome JAECOO. We have big plans for JAECOO, including the expansion of our dealer network to approximately 50 by the end of 2024,” said Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager for OMODA&JAECOO.

“At JAECOO, we’re setting new standards for sports utility vehicles, crafting models that can excel both as luxury on-road SUVs and as capable off-roaders. Our elegant SUVs are as comfortable transporting you to your desk in the city as they are taking you to the dunes in the desert,” added Liu. “They will thus appeal to a strong, fearless person in work who is equally adventurous at leisure.”

To lead this new urban off-road SUV space, JAECOO offers two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive performance, innovative designs, remarkable safety features and forward-thinking intelligent technologies.

The JAECOO name is inspired by a fusion of the German word “jäger” (meaning “hunter”) and the English term “cool”, capturing two elements central to the brand’s philosophy: outdoor adventure and urbanism.

More details and local specifications will be released closer to the J7’s launch next year.
